Aathilinga Eswarar Temple
Aathi Lingeswarar Temple is located Athanoor, Ottapidaram Taluk, Thoothukkudi District, Tamil Nadu. This temple had been dedicated to Lord Shiva and is worshipped as Athilingeswarar. Dwajasthambam is found before the lord’s shrine. On the top of the roof we can see a cow oozing its milk over the lingam, sacred bull, elephant, Boothaganas, Lord Murugan sat on his vahanam (peacock) and his consorts on both sides and Lord Vinayagar sat on the mouse. A little vimanam is found over the lord’s shrine and is adorned with beautiful idols. Navagraha idols are found within the temple. Devotees believe that the lord will give their family prosperous life. They perform archanai and abhishekam and offer vastras to the lord as their thanksgiving. Veeraputhiraswamy Temple is found adjacent to this temple. Irulappa Swamy Temple, Mottaiyaswamy Temple, Siva Lingeswarar Temple, Jega Veera Mottaiyaswamy Temple and Selva Vinayagar Temple are the high-flying visiting places found near this temple.
